Farahnaz Sharifi's Official Website

Farahnaz Sharifi is an internationally acclaimed Iranian filmmaker, editor, and writer.
Her practice as a filmmaker is rooted in the interplay of archive, memory, and personal narrative, expressed through poetic and creatively structured visual essays. Her latest film, My Stolen Planet, premiered at the Berlinale in 2024. It has received more than 25 international awards, including the Golden Alexander at the Thessaloniki Film Festival, the second Audience Award in Berlinale Panorama, and the Creative Use of Archive Award at IDFA. The film was also nominated for the European Film Awards.
Alongside her filmmaking, she is a recognized editor who has worked with filmmakers on some of the most acclaimed contemporary documentaries of recent years.
Beyond her cinematic pursuits, Sharifi also uses writing as another medium for storytelling, whether through her film scripts or in literary works such as her published collection of short stories, Sleeping in the Open Air.
From filmmaking to editing, from writing to consulting on film projects, Sharifi continually seeks to explore and express a personal world, refining a practice that blurs the boundaries between life, storytelling, and cinema.
